Enrolment Process

​

South Hedland Primary School is a local intake school. Students and their family must live within the school boundaries at the time the enrolment commences. The school may accept students from outside its boundaries if there are vacancies in particular year groups and in accordance with the Department of Education Enrolment policy. Parents or guardians must complete an Application for Enrolment Form and provide a copy of their child's birth certificate and current immunisation history statement from ACIR (Australian Childhood Immunisation Register). Children born outside of Australia will also need to provide passport/visa details or an Australian Citizenship certificate.

Once the application form for enrolment has been approved by the Principal, you will be notified of this and your child may commence.  It is also necessary for parents to ensure that any custodial information is accurately presented to the enrolling officer during enrolment. A copy of custody papers will be kept by the school. Children must enrol in the names that occur on their birth certificate, unless these have been changed by deed poll.

Enrolments

In Western Australia children can enrol in Kindergarten for that year if they turn 4 on or before June 30. Kindergarten is not compulsory.

​

Pre-Primary is the first year of compulsory education in Western Australia. Children must enrol in Pre-Primary if they turn 5 on or before June 30 of that year. 

 

Check which year your child can start school. 
 

Please bring the following original documents to the school office and complete an 'Application for Enrolment' form:

• Child's Birth Certificate

• Passports of child and parents (if not born in Australia)

• Visa Documentation if applicable or Citizen Certificates

• Proof of Address

• Immunisation Records
